Divorce Mediation
Through the process of mediation, parties identify problems, create solutions, weigh their options, and decide on a course of action and results with the mediator’s assistance.
The mediator supports participants in coming to their own choice by serving as an impartial third party.
Mediators don’t decide, assess, or offer advice on disputes. When appropriate, they help to oversee the dispute and conflict resolution procedure, in which all parties agree on the outcome.

In Dutch court, this process includes the creation of a divorce covenant, which covers agreements on:
- The execution of the terms of the marital conditions (if applicable)
- The division of marital assets
- Spousal support (partneralimony, if applicable)
If there are children involved:
- A parenting plan
- Child support (referred to as kinderalimentatie in the Netherlands)
